A 21 hour bus trip never sounds like it’s going to be too much fun. But when you have the right company, plenty of entertainment and the beautiful Mother City to look forward to touring, it can be a pleasant trip indeed.
This was the situation for us as the KZNYWB: A long road trip ahead but an awesome tour and performances awaited us.
Cape Town was a week filled with excitement, memories and new friendships were made. We performed at stunning locations such as the V & A Waterfront, Uitkyk Wine Farm and at the Cape Town ICC for the South Africa International Renewable Energy Conference.
In between our performances we visited Canal Walk Shopping Mall and Robben Island.
I think most of the wind band members can agree that Robben Island was such a touching experience, especially since the story was told by an ex-prisoner and that made whole experience more “personal.”
Besides the temperamental weather, Cape Town was very good to us.
We, as the KZNYWB, would like to thank TMC Logistics and The Rupert Foundation for their sponsorship, as well as Never@Home hostel for the wonderful accommodation and mouth-watering meals and most importantly, Nedbank for “making it happen!”
